What's wrong with false teeth?

my girl friend says false teeth are disgusting, but when I take them out, my tongue is two inches longer. what%26#039;s your opinion

What%26#039;s wrong with false teeth?
Nothing wrong with false teeth, but I can%26#039;t say the same about your girlfriend.
Reply:my opinion is get a new girlfriend who is into *you* not your teeth.
Reply:**** nothin I have a fake tooth..
Reply:work it out with her or just get a new girl frined
Reply:They don%26#039;t tell the truth.
Reply:I don%26#039;t think there%26#039;s anything wrong with false teeth I mean there better then no teeth at all.
Reply:Tell her to never look a gift horse in the mouth. . . nneeeeeeeiiiighhhhh
Reply:Tell her if it bothers her so bad, she knows where the door is!
Reply:wow, two inches longer. baby, keep them teeth out
Reply:Two inches longer! so what is her point. As long as you can chew your food and talk properly with them i see no problem in false teeth. she should watch what she says because one day she may need a pair herself.
Reply:I%26#039;m not into guys at all but I%26#039;m almost tempted to take you up on the offer....

Nahhhh on second thought, I%26#039;ll pass
Reply:My opinion is get a girlfriend who%26#039;s into you, and who isn%26#039;t all about looks.
Reply:I have false teeth myself and there is nothing wrong with them. Is she that perfect of a girl that she don%26#039;t have anything wrong with her, must be nice!!!!!!!
Reply:DOES SHE LIKE THE PLEASURE ?
Reply:Grow real teeth or get a new girl friend.
Reply:you have to chosse-which you need
Reply:I dated a guy that used to say the same thing. He had a lower partial that replaced his lower front teeth and when we used to get down he would take them out. I loved him. As long as the teeth fit it doesn%26#039;t bother me.
Reply:Do not take them out in front of people.
Reply:Nothing is wrong with having false teeth.
Reply:There is absolutely nothing wrong with false teeth and I presume that you had no other choice, so you landed with those false teeth. She will just have to accept the fact that you have false teeth, but it may be good ettiquette if you refrain from taking it out and putting it back - in public- some people get turned off at the sight. In the privacy of your home, especially in your bathroom you can do whatever you want with them!!
Reply:WOW UM....I HAVE ALL MY TEETH AND A GREAT SMILE....SO I CANT REALLY SEE WHERE U ARE COMING FROM ....BUT IF MY GIRL TOOK OUT HER TEETH AND EXPOSED HER TONGUE ID BE TURNED OFF SERIOUSLY
Reply:well maybe she is a bit freaked out when u take ur teeth out...so when ur doing ur busness down there or wateva take ur teeth out when shes not looking and do wat u gotta do. shes going to have to accept wat u have no matter wat..if she cant do that then maybe ur going to need to find a new gf. i almost had to get fake tooth cuz i nearly knocked my 2 front teeth out when i was 15.
Reply:donno bt i hate tht too
Reply:If she`s that shallow, why be with her, anyway? You can do better!! :) From my heart to yours..............!

George Washington, and his False Teeth, Springy Springy. An Americans Question ??????

I have Heard that The First President had Dodgy False Teeth. They were set on a Spring, to enable them to open easily. the only thing wrong with that was he had to clamp down hard in order to keep them closed. So this was why he always had a Grimace, and never Smiled is this true. Would anybody care to Comment Please ,Thank You very much.

George Washington, and his False Teeth, Springy Springy. An Americans Question ??????
from what i%26#039;ve read, were carved from hippopotamus ivory and elephant ivory. Sometimes the teeth were set in gold. His dentures had gold springs to hold the upper and lower teeth together.
Reply:So that%26#039;s where Terry Pratchett got that idea from!.
Reply:I actually heard his grimace was due to the pain he was in constantly. Thank goodness for our health, the things we take for granted.
Reply:He took very poor care of his teeth. I believe it was John Adams who stated that Washington enjoyed Brazil nuts, which I guess are very tough to chew or bite. It was also true that he was in a lot of pain.
Reply:...thats not what Dr. Baltimore says.
Reply:Yes, it%26#039;s true, this toothless wonder had a set of false teeth made of cow-horn and leather.

Back then it was common for rich folk to have no teeth due to their high sugar diet.

Meanwhile us Common folk had good teeth because we ate no sugar which we could not afford.

Keep sugars out of your diet and you will be okay.
Reply:According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica, George Washington%26#039;s false GNASHERS, did NOT contain ANY metal parts, - they WERE, actually made of WOOD!

Will i go for false teeth or not?

2 of the lower jaw molars was extracted.my dentist told me that i should have false teeth because those upper molars which doesnt have partners at the bottom will extrude and expose their roots in due time.is it true or she just want some money out of me?

Will i go for false teeth or not?
Sounds a little fishy. I%26#039;d get a second opinion.
Reply:She is correct. The teeth will eventually try to fill in the gaps themselves causing spreading and loose teeth
Reply:Yes, when a tooth is unopposed they will usually begin to grow towards the empty space. Their roots my not become exposed as the bone will usually grow down with them, but by hanging down below your other teeth they will begin to cause food impaction and eventually a gum problem. Many a time I%26#039;ve had patients finally decide to do something after the teeth have extruded and then it%26#039;s a MAJOR problem to bring the teeth back into alignment with crowns, as usually a root canal has to be done also. It%26#039;s a lot better to bite the bullet and go with your doctor%26#039;s recommendation. However, your choice is going to be either a partial denture or implants from what I can gather by what you%26#039;ve said. A partial will NOT feel or chew like real teeth and you need to talk this over before you go ahead with treatment.
Reply:When a tooth is extracted it%26#039;s counter starts to %26quot;look%26quot; for something to meet! If you lost a bottom tooth, the top one starts to drop down looking for something to meet. It will keep on dropping down, coming out of it%26#039;s position in the jaw, exposing rooth surface which is very prone to decay, opening gaps between the teeth where food can impact causing decay on the adjacent tooth... Not a good scenerio.

Dentisty, unlike most medical professions, is very mechanical. Top teeth need bottom teeth to hit and bottoms teeth need the top ones.

I don%26#039;t know how old you are, but we recommend for all our patients, both young and old, to replace posterior molars. They help to maintain the vertical dimention of your mouth, (you%26#039;ve seen old people with their faces caved in) and you need molars to chew properly.

Talk to your dentist and if you still double that she is giving you proper treatment, get a second opinion.

My teeth are really crooked but I'm beyond braces. What should I do? False teeth, bridges?

My back ones are straight, 6 front on top and 7 on bottom are crooked. If I go for false teeth, should I have all pulled at once, or top and bottom separately? Should I only get the crooked ones pulled and then get bridges? What are the pros and cons of false and bridges?

My teeth are really crooked but I%26#039;m beyond braces. What should I do? False teeth, bridges?
My teeth are pretty crooked and I%26#039;m starting Invisalign soon. I don%26#039;t have any real gaps or anything. But, mine might be similar to yours because it%26#039;s really the 6 teeth on the top in the front that need straightening and same for the bottom ones. My back teeth line up pretty well, but really, who cares about your molars?

You%26#039;d be surprised what orthodontists can do these days. No one is beyond hope. And if your teeth are healthy, orthodontists are hesitant to pull those healthy teeth. They always want to do their best to save your actual teeth. Real teeth are much better than man-made ones. If it%26#039;s a question of alignment, there%26#039;s a lot they can do. The biggest pain is the cost. It%26#039;ll be expensive, whatever you decide. I%26#039;m doing Invisalign for $3400.
Reply:go to your dentist and ask about invisalign.
Reply:i%26#039;d recommend a hammer + a chisel... i think you%26#039;ll really enjoy the results
Reply:I had porcelain veneers put on mine, they actually file your real teeth down to little nubs and put the veneers over top, now I have beautiful teeth. Keep your teeth at all cost!
Reply:Why are you %26quot;beyond braces%26quot;? Is it because you think you%26#039;re too old for braces or think your teeth are beyond the help braces might offer? Either way, I%26#039;d suggest you go to an orthodontist and see what they have to say: you might be pleasantly surprised.

It%26#039;s amazing how a beautiful smile is tied up with our image of what an attractive person looks like, so I understand your concern.
Reply:invisalign wont work for really crooked teeth, and you%26#039;re not beyond braces, youll be surprised at how they work. make a free consultation with your local orthodontist and be on your way to a healthy smile and greater confidence.
Reply:I disagree with the other answerer. Invisalign is merely for minor correcting of crowding. If you defiantely dont want to go the braces route, you could think of putting veneers and crowns on all teeth. Bridges are used to replace missing teeth, so sounds like you defiantely dont need that. More of a case of too many teeth! You can crown teeth and put veneers which will reshape the teeth and are aestetically more pleasing. But again let me remind you the cost will be more. Avg case of braces is $4-5000. 13 veneers is going to cost you approx $8-9000...Hope this helps...
Reply:Why are you beyond braces? Unless you have really bad gum disease, you are probably not beyond braces. They do have braces that are almost invisible (Invisaline).

Why do people put their false teeth in water ?? also the water disapears day by day, are the teeth drinking it

always wondered why theyre put into water, afterall false teeth r just plastic.

Why do people put their false teeth in water ?? also the water disapears day by day, are the teeth drinking it
It%26#039;s actually water with Steradent or similar soak %26#039;n%26#039; clean tablet.
Reply:I assume the water goes down because every time you take them out of the container some water is lifted out as well.
Reply:To keep them clean I guess from pollutants in the air? or bugs in the air.

And the water evaporates away (this does happen under 100C at standard [atmospheric] pressure)
Reply:The mouth is moist, or wet, so storing your teeth in water keeps them in the same medium and state as when they are in your mouth. The water disappearing is the action of evaporation, nothing more.
Reply:If you put your dentures dry into your mouth it can make you heave, and also it keeps your dentures clean.not all are plastic some are metal.the ones that clip on to the ones that you have left.so look after your teeth or you will end up like me with none.lo.now go and brush them.
Reply:if you don%26#039;t put them into water whan you have then out the dentures can become brital. so if you was to eat something it can break them.

and the water should be changed daily, and you should brush them after every meal. billie
Reply:they%26#039;re put into water so that when they%26#039;re removed to go back into the mouth, the moisture on the denture helps to create a better seal . also by soaking them, any old food particles(ewww!) can be removed easier .i am assuming that on each removal from the water, some is lost but that the water is evaporating too.
Reply:to keep them from drying out and becoming distorted. If they let them get dried out they wouldn%26#039;t fit in their mouths properly.
Reply:Old people usually do this, to keep them clean and fresh for the following day use. By the way how old are you? Water do not disappear when dentures are taken out of the container. The volume (water) increases when you put something with it. It goes back to its original volume when you remove the dentures thus it would appear less. The detures can%26#039;t drink. Try experimenting water and ice cubes. Put half a glass of water and drop 6 ice cubes and you will see the volume will increase the water will rise up appearing to be more. remove the ice cubes the water level will go down. Cheers.
Reply:I presume they are put in water to keep them in shape and stops them warping, because in the mouth they are used to being in a moist (saliva based) condition, so by putting them in water replicates to a point that condition. Also I should imagine for cleanliness and hygiene one should change the water daily not put back into the same old water afer all you would be transferring possible germs from the mouth.
Reply:People, especially oldies put false teeth in water to soften sticked food into it so that it can easily be removed. Also so that dust will not stick in the false teeth while its outside the mouth. Lastly to keep it lubricated. Its a joke that false teeth drinks it.Few reasons why water becomes few in the container is because some of it evaporates, little of it is absorbed by the denture and lastly when dentures are taken out, some water goes with it outside.- Lester Santibanez
Reply:because thats what the dentist advises us to do !!! because they can can damaged so keeping them in water helps so they in something soft and not getting bashed about.

How do you keep edentures(false teeth) clean?

I have a set of edentures(false teeth). Apart from brushing my teeth, how do I keep it clean? For eg, when I want to go to bed I take it off. Should I put it in a solution or what?

How do you keep edentures(false teeth) clean?
With dentures removed, rinse oral tissues at least once daily. At this time, all surfaces of the denture should be thoroughly cleaned. A special denture brush is recommend for this purpose, harsh abrasives and toothpaste should be avoided. During cleaning, the denture is carefully held over a sink half filled with cool water. The denture must not be soaked in either hot water or a strong solution such as undiluted bleach b/c these will damage the denture. As a precaution to minimize damage if the denture is dropped, place a wash cloth at the bottom of the sink. When dentures are not in the mouth, they must be stored in a moist, airtight container to prevent drying and warpage.
Reply:i say put it in some kind of solution
Reply:use Polident. it%26#039;s a denture cleaning tablet. you put your denture in a container with water and drop the tablet in.

Anyone ever have all their teeth pulled for false teeth?

if anyone has ever had this kind of o dental surgery done please let me know I had all my lower teeth removed for false teeth now my tounge hurts and theres a bump on the inside don%26#039;t know if I should tell my doc when i go to see him firday for a re line or not? It hurts a little anyone know what might have caused this?

Anyone ever have all their teeth pulled for false teeth?
Its not a reline that you need it called and adjustment. Once you have your teeth extracted the denture wont fit quite right. Thats why you need to call your dentist and get in everytime you have a sore spot until they fit great. A reline usually is needed 6 months after the denture has been placed due to your bone shrinking after the extractions. hope i helped and good luck
Reply:my mom had her teeth pulled for dentures.

you have to tell your dentist about each and every sore spot and bump you have.

my mom had to have hers re-lined a few times till they fit like a glove.

trust me you will regret having ill fitting dentures in the long run. fit them right the first time around

you will probly have to go back when your gums heal and shrink down too.
Reply:My boyfriend had to get false teeth last year, so I know what you are talking about. Your tongue hurts because of the swelling of your tender gums from the expressing the teeth from the gums. Is the bump you are talking about on your gums or tongue? If it is on your gums it is the bones pushing though don%26#039;t worry this happens and its okay. If it us your tongue it could but just something from the surgery, but if you feel like its getting worse or very uncomfortable call your Dent.
Reply:My father did and said it was the worst mistake of his life, however he was born in 1895 so the science probably wasn%26#039;t much. he passed in 1966. I am 64 myself. I left a partially done root canal go and the tooth crumbled. You don%26#039;t want to do that. I recommend swooshing Listerene. I think most problems are from germs. Always tell your doc everything. False teeth take several adjustments at best. My opinion is very few can do false teeth right. My wife has had them since 15 as she never brushed her teeth and they melted down. She is 55.....Best of luck to all...:)

Do you have false teeth or is this for the health(dental) section?

I am in a mood......I do not want to know if you have false teeth......just wondering if this the kind of question we put on the senior section, rather then a joke?

Yeah I know, I will be in HOT water by some....couldn%26#039;t resist.......

Do you have false teeth or is this for the health(dental) section?
The question is in the right place, if you%26#039;re are truly interested in the number of %26#039;seniors%26#039; who have their own teeth, if it is idle curiosity,, GOOD, it shows your mind is active .. if you are wanting to be mischievous then perhaps you could have re-phrased the question .. as for being in hot water .. I doubt whether any of us, %26#039;serious seniors%26#039;, would belittle or deride the questioning of younger minds .. and in answer to your question at 66 I am proud to say I have all my own teeth and only one filling
Reply:I have my own teeth and it will burn if you get in hot water. Be very careful!! tee hee

Can%26#039;t get Medicare until February. But I still kiss good!!!!

I still want to know about the toenail fungus, sounds like it%26#039;s spreading.
Reply:Honey false or not they ae our own as we will have paid for them. This is the place to find more people with experience so you are right on. Many young people and vistims of wrecks and accidents also have them.

So what was it you want to know about false teeth. I heard yo Momma has %26#039;em and hates %26#039;em. Better listen to her before you make any drastic changes sometimes Mother knows best.
Reply:CHERYL...........Soooooooo funny!!!!

I have toofies. My Aunt (my guardian) got drunk and knocked out the front ones when I was 16. (oh so dysfunctional) I left home and bought a partial after getting a cleaning job and later on in life, the wires ate through my other teeth.
Reply:Let%26#039;s see...at the rate I am having bridges installed, I will qualify within another 6 months! I cannot believe the cost of bridges! By the time you have extraction, then root canals, then temps, then the final bridge...gees! And I only need two more of them before I am finished ...this round! And I am usually asked, %26quot;are those your own teeth?%26quot; To which I reply, for what I paid for them, they damned well better be! Trust me, I did not lease them! %26quot;

Peace and love, Goldwing
Reply:No, I don%26#039;t have false teeth. Yes, you%26#039;re in the right section here with your friendly neighborhood group of %26#039;seniors%26#039;. Tell those party poopers to take that hot water and make some tea and to get over it. lol
Reply:Have my own thank-you for asking. Let%26#039;s not get into hairdos though cause I can%26#039;t afford store bought.
Reply:Wondered that myself.......just figure not many %26quot;others%26quot; would face this problem if they weren%26#039;t seniors....barring accidents and sports.

Half mine...half paid for that are mine.
Reply:Actually, I don%26#039;t think you will be in hot water. I do have a false tooth on top in front. When I was in middle school I was at State in softball and the first night we got there, I was wearing my cheerleading shoes and the laces were long and I tripped on them and knocked my tooth out. I was also wearing braces at the time, so those also were bent up into my gums. I know the hospital kept harrassing my parents for payments. So the next day my mom came to get me and I missed out on going to State. But then someone else got hurt two days later.

At the hospital, they tried to shove my tooth back in my mouth but it wouldn%26#039;t stay. It fell out later that night. And it really hurt when the dr. did it.

So that%26#039;s my story.
Reply:Should imagine it%26#039;ll be the British respondents who don%26#039;t have all their own teeth as we are renowned for having terrible problems with our dental service.....and to prove my point....Tc is currently struggling to cope with a top partial denture and I%26#039;ve got a full denture at the top and a partial denture at the bottom. I%26#039;ve only got 6 of my own original teeth left, good grief! As for whether this is the sort of question that should go on Seniors is entirely up to you....if you want to ask it...and that goes for any other question. We%26#039;re all getting nervous about what we can and can%26#039;t ask or answer these days but we%26#039;ll all keep this section going coz it%26#039;s a blooming good section to come into.
Reply:bad teeth here, so I%26#039;ve had %26#039;falsies%26#039; since I was thirty.... now, I have teeth that are almost THAT old!.... I%26#039;m trying to get new ones, but I gotta tell ya, it%26#039;s not easy to get GOOD ones these days!.... if you find a good dentist to do them you%26#039;ve got a winner!...

Should I tell my bf I have false teeth?

I%26#039;m 16 %26amp; I%26#039;m dating an older guy(7 years older) that I%26#039;ve known casually for almost a year. We started dating about 2 months ago and my mom is ok with this. He%26#039;s really a good guy and I don%26#039;t want to lose him. My problem is I have false teeth(the kind that come out) and he doesn%26#039;t know it, but I%26#039;m afraid he%26#039;ll find out. I think I should tell him in my own way before he finds it out and gets scared off, but how do you tell somebody that? I got them when I got out of 8th grade. They do move around some %26amp; I%26#039;m so afraid he%26#039;ll notice it when we kiss or they%26#039;ll slip like they do sometimes. Before you say anything about taking care of my teeth I should say that really bad teeth run in my family, and I totalled my top front teeth falling off my bike when I was 9. I had an upper partial when I was 10. The partial was never that great so I got the rest pulled out and got a full set when I got out of 8th grade. How do I tell him without scaring him away? Should I even say anything?

Should I tell my bf I have false teeth?
So your a 16 year old with a 23 year old boyfriend and no teeth? Well in that case you should tell him before he finds out in a situation out of your control.
Reply:u probably give a good gum job.
Reply:Yes, you don%26#039;t want them falling out while you%26#039;re making out. He should understand since he%26#039;s 7 yrs. older.
Reply:uummmm??????? wht?????
Reply:Yes, tell him now. It%26#039;ll be harder later and then he may be more upset. If you tell him the truth and he loves you, he%26#039;ll understand and it won%26#039;t bother him. Or he could be a real jerk and dump you, but it%26#039;s best to be honest and up front.
Reply:your best bet is to be honest with him, if he truely cares about you he will understand and he wont run off. If he runs off you know he wasnt meant to be with. If you dont tell him he would think you were lying to him and if you hold this back he might think you are holding other things back. hope that helps. wish you all the best!
Reply:they must be nice looking if he didnt notice. sure..i %26#039;d tell him. you are supposed to look for the good in people, not what medical problems a person has. if he likes you enough it shouldnt bother him at all.
Reply:yes. because if he finds out he will think your an old lady
Reply:you just be straight with him, if he gets scared off or leaves, then you know he wasnt the one for you. that would be really rude if he stoppped seeing you for that reason.
Reply:I am sorry for what you had to go through being so young; it is tough enough being your age ; 2 months is young relationship but what is this guy doing dating you so young?? ; when a relationship is right , you will feel free to tell your story until then it is your story; everyone has something wrong at one time or another ; balding men; health issues etc; just be yourself and don%26#039;t put more pressure on you then needed; you don%26#039;t need to apology or feel bad for a tough break; when life gives you lemons make lemonade ; good luck and just be happy (find someone your age?)
Reply:Forget about the false teeth scenario, he is way to old for you.

Something is not right with a guy that%26#039;s dating a child.
Reply:news flash %26quot;If you live in the United States then your boyfriend is committing a crime by being with an underaged in the first place.%26quot; Heres my advice, If he likes you he%26#039;ll stick with you even if you had just one strand of hair on your hair. Tell him you have sth important to show him. Pull them out and see how much he likes you.
Reply:when you feel that he is getting serious. Why not try asking how he feels about something else like plastic surgery or fake nails and see how he reacts.
Reply:if he truly loves you he will understand.
Reply:My guess is that he probably knows already as he has known you for a year and dating for 2 months, but sooner or later you will have to tell him. Just say you have a little secret that you want to share with him, then explain that you have lost all your teeth and have to wear false ones. If he is the sort of guy I suspect he is he will sympathize with you and not to worry anymore. But if he reacts with horror he is not worth dating. There are guys out there who will accept your situation. Good luck and I hope your present boyfriend is one of them.
Reply:Just be honest.

Tell him %26quot;I%26#039;m jailbait, but I have great (bionic) teeth.%26quot;
Reply:u need to tell him the truth as soon as possible...but don%26#039;t worry about it...if he really likes u then he won%26#039;t care...it%26#039;ll be ok...best of luck...
Reply:I see this as a positive problem that he will have no problems with
Reply:provided he truly loves you the teeth should not be an issue, but people scare for the darndest things.

the dental issue would not bother me but your age would, you really need to get someone a bit closer to your age, if not provide you are happy and your parents agree with him, no problem Iwould reveal them now befor he gets up one night and asks you if those are your mom%26#039;s
Reply:You should tell him, but you have to pick the time and place. How you tell him depends on how he is and where you guys are in your relationship. I%26#039;ve had false teeth since I was 14 myself so I%26#039;ve been in your position a couple of times. I found that waiting a little while before saying anything isn%26#039;t so bad. Waiting a long time is probably not as good. I mean if in a month or so it doesn%26#039;t seem to be going anyplace, then there%26#039;s no use in saying anything when it may become a moot point for other reasons. But if it looks like it could turn into something really good, I wouldn%26#039;t delay saying anything too long. If he really loves you for you, he wouldn%26#039;t care if you were completely toothless without false teeth. He might be a little upset that you didn%26#039;t trust him enough to say something if you wait too long and he finds out on his own though. The next time you 2 have some private time, I%26#039;d think about mentioning it. Like I said if he really thinks a lot of you, it won%26#039;t matter that your teeth come out. The first time my fiance saw me I wasn%26#039;t expecting to meet anybody and I wasn%26#039;t exactly looking my best. I was helping my mom with some gardening in the yard and I was sweaty and dirty and toothless. I never expected to hear from him ever again. Lucky for us his mom and my grandma worked together, so he was able to track me down a couple days later and we%26#039;ve been together ever since. Whatever you decide, I hope it works out the way you want.
Reply:You should tell him but it shouldn%26#039;t make any difference if he%26#039;s a right kind of guy. If he really likes you for you it shouldn%26#039;t make any difference. If he takes off, he wasn%26#039;t the guy for you anyway, so be glad he did. My wife and I both had false teeth when we met and it didn%26#039;t make any difference to us.If anything it made it better.
Reply:Wait till one night and take them out and go to town on him, he won%26#039;t care then cause nothing is better than a gum job!
Reply:You need to tell him the truth or he%26#039;ll find out one way or another, try not to see it like a big problem, start talking about teeth %26amp; tell him that you wanted to tell him long ago, but you didnt know how to, but if he shows a yuck face, he doesnt love you. You know you cant stay with him!
Reply:Tell him the truth. Explain that bad teeth are hereditary in your family and that you had the biking accident. If something that silly and insignificant scares him away he wasn%26#039;t worth having and you can do better.
Reply:I say tell him.
Reply:First of all you should tell him that you have false teeth when you feel like you are comfortable to tell him. Sometimes when you know a person more they will understand. If he blows you off then don%26#039;t feel bad because if someone that doesn%26#039;t accept you then they really don%26#039;t accept you.
Reply:you should tel him and if he leaves then he isnt the one for you.

Unable to eat with false teeth.?

Please could someone offer some advise. I am really worried about my Dad he is in his mid 50%26#039;s and has had to have false teeth fitted. The problem is that he is unable to eat anything and he has lost so much weight. He has to take his teeth out every meal time and he says it makes him feel quite sick he is only eating brad and soup. He is quite a shy man and wont speak to anyone about his problem (apart from me). Does anyone know anyone who is also suffering? Do you have any advise or tips that you could kindly share? Thanks

Unable to eat with false teeth.?
It does sound as though they may not be as well fitting as they should be. Maybe the %26#039;bite%26#039; is uncomfortable and needs to be adjusted by the dentist. Could you arrange (with his permission) another appointment at the dentist or at a different dentist, if friends are able to recommend a good one.
Reply:He needs to get new, better fitting ones. I assume you live in the US? They have these places all over the country called

Affordable Dentures. See if you can locate them where you live. It%26#039;s not healthy for him to only eat that. Try some Carnation instant Breakfast, just add milk and a Multi Vitamin a day. It would be a good start. He can also have Ensure too.
Reply:My 88 year old mother has the same problem. She can eat all soft foods, but nothing that has to be bitten or chewed. She says the dentures hurt and cut her gums when she bites down, but won%26#039;t go back to have them refitted. A lot of her food she puts through a food processor to make it easier to eat. Your father will learn how to compensate and what foods he can eat and enjoy.
Reply:First off he needs to make sure there are no sore bits on his gums caused by the dentures. If there are his dentist can trim bits off the denture to make a better fit. He should brush his gums as well when he cleans his teeth to make them a bit stronger and keep them healthy. He should try to eat with his dentures in - start off with something soggy - bread popcorn etc and put a little bit in each side of his mouth - if he only fills one side of his mouth it will be lopsided and a bit difficult to chew. If he gets some of that fixative stuff it should help his denture stay in. He should also have got advice and a booklet from his dentist about how to treat the denture and learn to eat. Tell him to persevere cos it can be done, but apples are out I think. Bananas are good to practice on.
Reply:Hi, i know how you dad feels it is not a nice feeling, and there are denture grips out there which can help. And even going back to the dentist and the dental technician i have found that really there is no substitute for your own teeth But i have found the only way to enjoy any meal is to take them out, and he will be surprise how really very few take any notice., it just take time.
Reply:This actually killed my father. Ill fitting dentures caused him to stop eating. He didn%26#039;t tell me he was having a problem and I didn%26#039;t know he stopped eating.

It is very important that your dad go to the dentist and get the denture fixed so he can chew properly. Failing that he should do whatever is necessary to replace the denture.

Some suggestions to get him eating - even without his teeth. Frozen dinners often are soft in texture and should be very easy to eat. Salsbury Steak (actually soft hamburger), Chicken Tetrezini (small pieces of cubed chicken with pasta), Creamed Chipped Beef, Macaroni and Cheese and anything that is meat and veggie based with a very soft consistency.

One other thing, initially you may want to sit with him while he eats to keep him company. It sounds like he is quite lonely and your being there will make him happy and hopefully give him an appetite.

Best of luck with your dad. Have a safe and happy Christmas.
Reply:he probably needs a reline to make them fit better

gums shrink and then dentures are too big....

try some of the liner sold at Walmart and also use an adhesive until he can get a reline

so sorry for him also, hope this helps
Reply:Hi, poor dad, firstly your mouth changes all the time so weight loss will be an issue and a trip to the dentist may be due, in the mean time he may try some denture paste to keep them in place, the poor thing cant taste anything because they are covering the palate of his mouth and a lot of taste sensors are up there. A visit to the dentist may also find that he may be suitable for %26quot;implants%26quot; putting 2 presstud type things into his gums permantly and then fixting the dentures to them hense so much less movement. I hope he gets sorted this type of thing can get him down. good luck.
Reply:He must go back to the dentist. It might just be a tiny misfit and may even refit it for free. Dentures must be worn 24/7. He should also sleep with it. Don%26#039;t take them out for more than ten minutes at a time, for cleansing etc. He can try leaving it in hot water for five minutes and then force them back (ouch, yes!) which may reshape the dentures for a better fit. I have mine now for seven years and well...unfortunately thats the name of the game.

I am thinking about gating False teeth should i?

i am a teen for the last 9 years or so i have had teeth problems but lately it has got-in whores alot whores

and my teeth will not get any batter ps how mach do you think False teeth would cost

I am thinking about gating False teeth should i?
Well if a dentist has said that you need dentures, go for it. But they arent cheap.. I had no insurance and it cost me $12,000 for all the extractions, etc. But I had a really small mouth, with other problems. I%26#039;d say you are looking at $5,000 at least. The surgery wasn%26#039;t bad, but the first three weeks were rough. I%26#039;m now on week 6. they look good and I can eat pretty good, but not great. It%26#039;s something you really need to talk to your dentist about before jumping into it. I%26#039;m 55, needed to do it for the past ten years but was afraid. If you are young there could be a lot of alternatives.
Reply:Didn%26#039;t you just ask this question a couple of hours ago?
Reply:Your teeth got in whores...?
Reply:LOL
Reply:I have known two people who have had false teeth fairly young and something the dentists don%26#039;t tell you is that for many people it HURTS.

It seems that even though they mould the false teeth to your gums it still rubs. Food gets stuck under the plate and smells and they come out sometimes.

If you can avoid getting the false teeth go for that. If you can%26#039;t then try to go for the ones that are fixed onto metal rods that go into your jaw. I hope your parents own their house because thats how much they will probably cost.

I know its awful to have bad teeth,, but try to stick with them and get them fixed up (cosmetically). False teeth are not the easy fix most of us think they are.

Good luck
Reply:You should probably finish school and learn how to spell before worrying about your looks.
Reply:you definitely need to use spell check....you mean your teeth got worse? not whores...

false teeth are not cheap...having all your teeth removed is very expensive and then getting fitted for false teeth......usually a $1000 dollars or more depending on the type you acquire, plus the constant fitting and realignments you will need throughout the years.....
Reply:you need to get the bad ones out first, that%26#039;s the hard part, then save your money, because you%26#039;re going to need it....
Reply:Find a good dentist to help you care for your teeth. Use xylitol gum easily found in stores. Trident just came out with a whole line of xylitol gums. Look at the ingredients on the label to make sure it has xylitol. Xylitol is a natural sweetener that kills bacteria that can cause tooth decay. Use it for about 5-10 minutes then spit out.

A dentist can go over your options. Even if you are going to be missing some teeth, your dentist can come up with bridges, flippers, or partials to wear which are 100% better than full dentures. If you have the money, you might even be able to get implants which are almost as good as real teeth.

Can you get false bottom teeth and not have false uppers?

Will the false teeth wear down the tops ones or do they both have to be done at once?

Can you get false bottom teeth and not have false uppers?
Yes, you can get bottoms. You can also get partials, bridges, even implants.

False ones won%26#039;t damage your real teeth.

Reply:Dah yes
Reply:It is possible to have false tops/bottoms and real tops/bottoms. I had a friend who lost her top teeth in an accicent and had a denture. She still had her real teeth in the bottom and it caused no problems for her.
Reply:The dentures would not wear down your teeth unless they weren%26#039;t fitted properly.

If you are thinking of having both done, it would be best to do both and get the pain and swelling done at once.
Reply:No problem, you can do one level at a time. Or one side at a time too.
Reply:You can have just uppers or just lowers. They only replace the teeth that need to be replaced.

Did you get false teeth after your gums healed? Do you wear them alot?

I am having all my teeth removed tomorrow, Medicaid wont pay for false teeth until my gums completely heal. I have been told that unless I get dentures right away I will never wear them and it will be painful to try. I am planning on getting dentures in a few months when my gums heal. Has anyone done this ? Did it work out OK? I mean do you actually wear your dentures ?

Did you get false teeth after your gums healed? Do you wear them alot?
The purpose of putting dentures in right after the teeth are extracted is to have something in your mouth to function with while the healing process takes place. These are known as immediate or healing dentures.

Once all of the bone and tissue has healed and recontoured then a set of final dentures can be fabricated. The longer the healing time, the better the fit of the final dentures. In my practice, my patients wait 6 months until the final dentures are made. In the meantime, we work with the healing dentures so they can get used to them and have something to function and chew with.

It%26#039;s not absolutely necessary to have the immediate dentures but be prepared to %26quot;gum it%26quot; and you%26#039;ll have a caved in appearance. And don%26#039;t be in a rush to get the final dentures. Let that tissue and bone heal my friend!!!!

Good luck
Reply:That does not sound rite. Any body I know has gotten dentures the same day so that the gums can conform to the new teeth.
Reply:there is a kind of dentures that you put right after the extraction of your teeth, its called an immediate dentures, they help to the healing process of your gums, and also to get used to the sensation of the dentures. The can be placed about a day or two after the extraction and with regular cleaning and disinfecting they will mold your gums into a good host for the real dentures

Question about braces and false teeth on a retainer?

I%26#039;m getting my braces off in two weeks. I%26#039;m missing about 8 adult teeth (my wisdom teeth and 4 others...) and my top retainer will have 2 teeth on it (i%26#039;m missing both of my canines). My question is, is it hard to eat with the false teeth? has anyone had them or had the same problem as me? My ortho. really hasnt said much about it when i asked him.

Any advice from any of you people that have had the same problem? I hope I made sense...

My friend has false teeth and she eats just fine. Maybe its cause she is used to it but dont worry. I am sure you will be able to eat. Good luck!
Reply:I have complete dentures. I do not wear adhesive as they fit properly. I can eat corn on the cob now.

My own teeth were all in such bad shape they had to be pulled. Before I got dentures I could not eat many foods and now I can eat almost everything except some caramel that gets stuck.

Semi Permanant False Teeth?

Does anyone know if it is possible to have your false teeth permanantly or semi permanatly fixed, i am sure i read something about it ages ago where they screw the plates to your mouth but not sure. The pastes etc are awful and don%26#039;t do a good job really. Ay tips on securing false nashers also appreciated. I lost mine in a bike accident two years ago (34 years of age). Thanks everyone

Semi Permanant False Teeth?
Hello, I had an accident and lost a few teeth, had an op to correct the jaw etc... (28years old), I am in the process of having what is called a steel plate made that clips onto another tooth or onto the back teeth, there will be nothing against your palate as with the plastic plate. The NHS do this too... You just need to go chat to your dentist.
Reply:I think when they do crowns (maybe) they kinda put in screw into your jaw bone and fix the new tooth that way, so maybe they could do that with your whole mouth? It would be painful and expensive though I would think!
Reply:Yes today they can Screw false teeth into your gums but it is the most expensive false teeth option !
Reply:Yes, absolutely. If you go to Google search and type in implant dentures it will come up with many sites that will give you detailed information and answer all the questions you might have. You will need to shop around for the best price. I am in the process of saving up for mine at the moment. Can%26#039;t eat at all with dentures in. It%26#039;s awful. Good luck.

Here%26#039;s a couple to get you started

http://www.dentalfind.com/Dentures_Impla...

http://www.yourdenture.com/dentures-over...

add where you live to your search and you will be able to find a convenient dental centre.
Reply:I think you must have read about either a bridge or implants. A bridge is for if you have a gap between existing teeth where the dentist makes crown and cements them in by attaching them to the teeth either side. Implants are when the dentist drills into the jaw bone and attaches a false tooth that way. I believe Sharon Osbourne has these. You would have to pay privately for these treatments though and the implants aren%26#039;t suitable for everyone and can take several months. If you just want to fix your denture in use a fixative from the chemist.
Reply:You can get implants. They are %26quot;drilled%26quot; into the jaw. Given time to heal usually around 6-8 wks then abutments(posts) are placed on the implants and the connecters are placed into the denture and they snap on to the abutments and hold the denture in without adhisive and they work great. It costs about 1900 for one implant and then around 400-500 for the abutments and snaps in the dentures. you need as little as 2-4 on the bottom and 4-6 onthe top. But it%26#039;s worth is if you%26#039;re only 36 years old you%26#039;re got 40 more years of life left to live and you want to have the best life and the best teeth you can. Good Luck Find a good oral surgen or talk to you general dentist and see what he/she would recommend for you to do;
Reply:yes. they can be permanently replaced with implants. these work the best. but costly

there are other possible alternatives (semi-permanent). for example mini implants. these are similar to implants. they are cheaper and less surgery is involved. however, they dont last as long.

ask your dentist.

btw i am a dentist
Reply:yes they are called implants and will cost you a small fortune ie £1000.00 upwards for each one
Reply:Implants are a permanent solution to false teeth. Depending on you level of bone around the jaw will depend on whether or not this is the right option for you. Your dentist will be able to refer you to a specialist to check. This option is very costly and involves placing titanium screws into the jaw bone and allowing to heal for approx 6 months, temporary teeth (crowns) will be placed onto these screws until you are ready to have the permanent teeth placed. You cannot remove these teeth at all. Usual cost is bewteen £2-£2.5k per tooth. The only other way to replace these teeth is by a denture which is what you have now. If they are very loose you may need to have them relined by you dentist as your gums may have shrunk.

I am looking for info from false teeth wearers who are under 50.?

I am 48 and am going to have several teeth removed on the left hand upper side and will need some false ones. I am dreading it. I have gum disease and so cannot have screws ins. Will have to wear dentures. My mum went through hell with the same problem about my age and could not keep them in, gagged a lot, and was generally unhappy with them. I am also scared of my face %26#039;falling in%26#039; due to false teeth not being same shape/size as the rest. I live in the UK. Can anybody out there reassure me that false teeth may not be all THAT bad? Plus I was reading that initially with falsies it can be hard to pronounce certain words and you may produce extra saliva!! For someone who loves to talk this is a nightmare scenario. Plus I am single at the mo and want to meet someone, but the thought of having to go out in public with falling in face, dribbling and slurring is not a happy thought!!

Help. Any advice, info very very welcome and thanks for reading this. Julia.

I am looking for info from false teeth wearers who are under 50.?
Hi Julia,

My name is Paul and I%26#039;m a dentist in Ireland.

Well, firstly, you can relax and be assured that there are Thousands of people under 50 with false teeth. You are Not alone in this.

The good news is that its Upper teeth you%26#039;re having extracted.False teeth are far easier to wear on top than on bottom jaw, as we move our bottom jaws not the top!

Todays modern dentures will be made to a perfect fit, so they Will be the same size and shape as your natural teeth..no worries there.

Plus wont it be better than having decaying teeth up there?

With any new dental procedure..false teeth, implants, bridges, braces it is harder to pronounce some words AT FIRST.. however you quickly adapt and have no problem.

Humans adapt quickly. You wont be slurring or lisping, you will get used to the new feel of these teeth.

Your face wont %26quot;fall in%26quot;!When teeth are removed the gum shrinks but the false teeth will retain the shape of the normal teeth and your face will look as it always has.

Many people are walking around missing back teeth!

The production of extra saliva is only while you%26#039;re getting used to false teeth, again its temporary.

You will still be able to chat, eat, drink and be merry as you always have.

Your public image wont be changed and it wont hinder your chances of meeting someone, dont worry.

False teeth are much better than in your parents days, dentistry has improved.

AS for screw in teeth, implants, I%26#039;d recommend these perhaps on front teeth but if its back teeth you%26#039;re perfect with false ones, no worries.

It%26#039;ll be a relief to you to have your teeth and gums under control.

Dont worry.

Email for any information or questions.

Reply:My hubby has gone through the same thing as you. He did have a few problems at first getting used to the dentures...word pronounciation a bit, and yes that extra saliva, but that all went away in a week or two...everything will be fine. Oh and your face will only fall in if you don%26#039;t wear the dentures. As for the gagging....make sure you have a good doctor and you will not have that problem..if you do, go back to him, and make him correct the dentures. Just a word of advise...my hubby had to put the dentures in as soon as the teeth were pulled...it was sore, but the fit was worth it. Relax, you will be fine.

Had to have some front %26amp; side dentures (they%26#039;d never heard of screw in ones back then).

Never any shortage of boyfriends, in fact, when we got married we had a steak reception and my husband wrapped my denture in his hanky and put it in his pocket so that I could enjoy my steak better.

I gagged a lot on the impression plate and had a bit of a problem to start with the denture plate, but got over that. I did lisp a bit when talking (but later lisped when I didn%26#039;t have the denture in!).

The denture will stop your cheeks falling in.

I now (70 next birthday) have a cantilevered bridge (suspended on the remaining teeth at the side) and actually miss my denture - it was like an old friend (!). The grandchildren can%26#039;t understand how granny could have teeth which came out at one time and don%26#039;t any more!

As for the talking - I was a Social Worker and Hospital Care Manager! Have you ever heard of a Social Worker who couldn%26#039;t talk the hind leg off the proverbial donkey?!!

Chin up Julia - it might be worse - you could have had a false leg! Come to think of it - I did once have a boyfriend with a false leg. It%26#039;s the person who matters, honestly.

I%26#039;m sure that there is someone waiting out there for you who won%26#039;t give a toss about a bit of plastic in your mouth.

Are mexican false teeth good?

I am going to get false teeth in Mexico.

I would like to know if anyone has puchased teeth from Mexico

and are there any problems?

Are mexican false teeth good?
There not bad for Mexicans.

However, if you live in the states then I suggest you get someone local and reputable.

Stop and think about this for a minute. This is what you will be eating and chewing with. It also affects your appearance.

So get them done correctly at a place where they can be looked after, adjusted and maintained in the future.

If you make it to Mexico say %26quot;Hello%26quot; to my cousin Carlos for me.

Best of luck and always do what is real to you.
Reply:It just depends where they%26#039;re made.
Reply:i havent heard if they are good ive only heard they are cheap, cheaper.good luck
Reply:I have seen various people with dental work from mexico. Majority of the people I see with dental work from mexico, look like they have dental work from mexico. However, I have seen 1-2 people out of many with dental work from mexico that looked like good, quality dental work. It is hard to find a dentist in Mexico that can give you the quality of American dentists and dental labs. Also, most dentists include denture adjustments in the price of their dentures. So, if you go to mexico and get dentures and come back to America needing them adjusted, you are going to have to pay for that. Also, some dentists include a denture reline in the price. After wearing your new dentures for a while, you may have healing and bone changes from just having teeth pulled. This can cause the dentures to not fit good anymore and many dentists include the reline price in with the main price. Bottom line is you usually get what you pay for. Many denture labs offer cheap dentures, but many of these have all of these hidden fees for adjustments and relines, etc. I would only go to a dentist in Mexico if I had seen the quality work for myself.
Reply:depends where they are made...
Reply:Yes, i have gotten several porcelain crowns in Mexico and they are great! And a hell of a lot affordable too!
Reply:yes they are way better than the ones made in the us and are more durable.

How much to have false teeth wired in?

I have really bad teeth and I%26#039;m only 20. Because of a poor childhood I never had braces, so even though I%26#039;ve been taking care of my teeth their crookedness has caused a lot of problems. I have many cavities and my teeth are so weak they crumble away. I%26#039;m scared that I%26#039;ll be missing a lot of teeth by the time I%26#039;m 25 :( How much would it be to have false ones put in? And would it be worth it?

How much to have false teeth wired in?
It depends on the dentist you go to. I am in the same predicament as you. I have very weak teeth, have had all my life. No amount of dental care could help that. I am 34 and am fixing to have partials put in. It is costing me 1800.00 to have ALL of my molars pulled and my partials made. I am keeping my front teeth so I do not need full plates.....yet. I am guessing about 3000.00 for full plates.

Personally, being in the same boast as you, I believe that it would be worth it to not have pain when you eat.
Reply:to have tooth in-plants it cost in this country about £1000.00 per tooth put the great thing is that it is about 99% sucsessful your gums should not reject the forgen body ( the tooth ) But it would be cheap to go to see a dentist in easton urop as much chepra than the uk and you get a holls as well !!!
Reply:False teeth are not wired in. Go to a dentist who specializes in dentures.
Reply:You would have to have two anchor posts screwed into the bone(assumed to be solid), let it heal for 6 months, and them have a full plate put in that are affixed to these two anchor teeth. Would need to be done for upper and lower.

I am assuming that before the above procedure, that you have had all your teeth removed.

The approx cost - anchor teeth - 1000 - 1500 per unit.

Upper and lower plate - 500 - 700 for each plate.

Look up Sexton Dental Clinic, Florence SC.

A ton of dentists.

Impressions in the morning, and the false teeth(upper and lower plate, now assuming you forgo the above mentioned

anchor teeth), in place in the afternoon. They have a hotel/motel right by the clinic if needed.
Reply:I have a genetic disorder (thanks dad) where I never had teeth in certain spots. I never had the baby teeth grow in and some of the baby teeth I had had no adult teeth to push them out. A fantastically embarrassing and dissappointing thing to deal with as %26quot;a perfect smile%26quot; has been something I always wanted.

I had braces from 5th - 8th grade and that basically put the teeth I did have in positions where they could then remove my braces and give me a %26quot;partial%26quot; to fill in the gaps. Hot right?

Anyways, cosmetic dentistry is EXPENSIVE. I had the same partial for about 15 years now (they normally last 5-7 years). It is old and has broken - meaning i bit into my food and the teeth have fallen off due to wear. SUPERGLUE became my best friend.

Recently I did a search in my area of %26quot;dentists that the dentists go to.%26quot; I do NOT want a shotty job as I am a PRO at spotting false teeth. Some people just have bad jobs done and I feel terrible for them and don%26#039;t want that for myself. Neither should you.

What I was told was this:

I have 3 options.

1. Replace the partial for a new one. (But I don%26#039;t want to be able to remove my teeth anymore. I want perminant teeth).

Cost - about 5k total (for four teeth on my upper mouth)

2. I can get a Maryland Bridge - this is where they grind down the teeth you do have and put a bridge with teeth on it in. This is held in by cement and caps that go over the teeth you do have to hold it in (which is why they have to grind down your real teeth). Something about this makes me nervous as I don%26#039;t want the only teeth I do have to be ruined.

Cost - about $10k for the four upper teeth

3. I can get implants.

If I want the best smile I can get - they would put me back in braces to move my real teeth to the right spots (when I had them when I was young, they basically just did it the easy way and my canines aren%26#039;t in the right spots). This would take about 1.5 years and during this time I would have gaps in my mouth as they would have to take teeth off my partial to be able to move the teeth correctly. Then they implant a metal rod into your gums that the fake teeth screw onto. It takes a little bit to heal so the real teeth don%26#039;t go on immediatly. I would have a bridge again.

Cost - about $17k for the braces and implants. (This includes the 4 on my upper mouth and 3 on my lower 0 i have a maryland bridge on my lower already but would want it removed if I went this route).

Even GOOD dental insurance is nothing compared to the amount you will pay for the perfect smile. Most companies only give you about $1500 max limit per year.

I wish you luck on what you chose.

I advise that you get it done right. Go to a reputable cosmetic dentist. If you don%26#039;t know where to look try LV Dentists (they do the smiles on that reality makeover show on tv). They are in most major cities. I spoke to them and they told me that it would be $20k and they didn%26#039;t include braces at all. Yeah - pricey right?? Maybe your problem isn%26#039;t as severe as mine - the consultation is free.

Hope this helps....as far as where to get the $$$$...if you find out let me know!

Making dentures, or false teeth tool name?

I have been making false teeth for costumes and such that fit over the present teeth.

anyhow, i%26#039;ve seen in many make-up and FX mags, teeth still on the Ultracal positive molds (top and bottem) and those molds are in some kinda of brace or bracket that hold the top over the bottem molds

False teeth make me sick. wats the alternative?

I am 55%26amp;only hav 13teeth most of them r bad%26amp;breakin. Over the last 22yrs i hav tried false teeth but i constantly heave%26amp;then im sick. I really need sum good CHEAP advice on alternative falses. My smile has gone%26amp;im lookin ill. Please help

False teeth make me sick. wats the alternative?
You have a hypersensitive gag reflex. This is common with people who have had to go without their dentures for a period of time.

Have you spoken to your dentist?

If you can go to a speech therapist, they may be able to assist you in decreasing this.

One way you might try it yourself is to take a spoon, gently walk it back on your tongue until you just start to feel the gag feeling start, then remove the spoon.

Do this for several days just to that spot. If it seems to ease up, go a little bit farther until a new spot is found.

This will take time and patience and not the most pleasant experience but it is free.

You may also, just attempt to put your false teeth ,in say just for 1 minute , if you can stand that, then take them out. Do this on and off during the day. If after 2 days you can tolerate the 1 minute increase it to 2 minutes.

Continues this, increasing it by one minute at a time, after you have reached a new tolerated amount of time.

See how it goes, I would not jump into eating with the teeth just yet, but if you can wear them for 10 minutes, I would try a small sip of liquid.

Remember if you have not had your teeth in for a while, your gums may have shrunk, and the denture may need a liner, you will need at least one visit with the dentist.
Reply:Ever looked into partials? That is the way I may have to go myself. The alternative is a screw in my jaw %26amp; then a crown on top of the screw. The price tag for that.......$2300. Yes, that is for 1 tooth. YIKES!!!!! My brother in law is only 43. He has had false teeth for a over a year now. If you decide to go that route, which by the way was the cheapest, I suggest that you wear your false teeth all the time %26amp; you get some good denture adhesive. Best wishes with your teeth dear. :)
Reply:Well there is really no cheap way to fix this problem. You could have implants done but they are not cheap. You would have to make sure that your gums are healthy enough to support the implants. You should look into this if you think that you could afford it. They are a wonderful way to replace missing teeth.

Teeth false the old ones?

what do people usually do with their old false teeth when they get new ones?

Teeth false the old ones?
i have 5 old sets in a draw use them to scare grand-kids
Reply:They take them out and put the new ones in.
Reply:Generally, when you get dentures, they are for life. People do not get new ones to my knowledge. Why? you need some?
Reply:You can do whatever you want to do with your old set of dentures. Give them to your dog if you want to.
Reply:Dentures are not for life, just as you would not expect a pair of shoes you bought at 40 years to still function at 60 years. Even though some people keep them much, much longer, they typically last 7-10 years.

The teeth wear done. Because you lose jaw bone when you don%26#039;t have any teeth, the dentures also become more and more ill-fitting with time.

Often, people will keep 1 set as a %26quot;back-up.%26quot; Otherwise, I assume my patients use them to scare their grandkids...

Removable/snap on false teeth?

I%26#039;m not too happy with my teeth. I am a hockey player so my top four front teeth are a bit crooked (the two that are on each side of my front teeth portrude a little it bugs!!!) I really want to get veneers done but right now I just don%26#039;t have the money for them, I%26#039;m saving up though. I don%26#039;t have a dentist either (NO INSURANCE)...but i have heard that you can buy false teeth that you can snap on and off? or kits you can buy that you mold them to fit your mouth? does anyone know of anything like this??? thanks.

I would save for braces. I think that fake teeth are for old men.

Are false teeth worth the pain?

I am having the 15 teeth i have left pulled and false teeth put straight in.any adice would be great as im terrified. thanks ;)

Are false teeth worth the pain?
When I had the remaining of my teeth finally removed he did it at the same time as having my dentures ready.

Whilst the teeth were still in I was going backwards and forwards to the dentist for impressions %26amp; fittings, etc.

On the final appointment when my teeth where ready he took the teeth out and put the dentures straight in. I was told to sleep in them at first for the first few nights because if I took them out my gums would swell and I wouldn%26#039;t be able to get them back in again later.

It was a bit painful at first. And I only took them out for a few minutes in order to rinse my mouth.

When I first had them took out and the dentures put in I came home %26amp; ate a slice of toast and felt no pain as my mouth was still numb but once the numbness wears off it did start to feel tender. Take painkillers %26amp; ease yourself into eating soft things with your dentures in at first eventually building up to harder stuff.

I mistakenly thought I would be eating apples straight away but it took a few weeks before I was able to build myself up to managing them.

Good luck.
Reply:When you put dentures in over fresh extraction sites, the bone is harmed and slowly dissolves away! It is much better to have all of the posterior teeth extracted, heal for 6-8 weeks, and then have the anterior teeth removed the same day that the dentures are placed. To do otherwise is not wise.
Reply:Not sure I agree with the first answer. I had immediate dentures put in nearly thirty years ago. Yes, the dentist said a waiting period would be better, but I didn%26#039;t want to go without teeth for weeks on end. So I had them all out at once and the dentures placed immediately afterward.

I had virtually no problems because of it. The dentures actually provided protection by covering the areas where the teeth were extracted.

It%26#039;s true that your gums will shrink over time, and the dentures will need to be relined to maintain the fit. Once teeth are extracted, gums will shrink no matter when the dentures were inserted.

Be patient! New dentures are going to take some getting used to, and it%26#039;s not going to be easy. At first, eating will be difficult and painful. Even when you%26#039;re not eating, there will be some pain. Speaking will seem odd. The dentures will probably create sores here and there, but the dentist can take care of that. Bear with it. Time heals everything.

Once you%26#039;ve worn them a while, and the extraction sockets have healed, you should be fine. I eat virtually anything without problems, and you should be able to also.

Is TMJ helped with having false teeth?

I have suspected TMJ Temporal Mandible Jaw Pain, has anyone had it and have they been helped by getting false teeth, i had all my big teeth pulled out on the side that is affected, top and bottom as it felt like i had tooth ache.

I have to wait ages to get the false teeth, should i ask my gp to refer me to a private doctor (wich will cost money)or wait and see if the false teeth help.

I have seen a doctor at the local hospital, he said it was mygraines, it is not, i have had this for over 3 years.

Any help would be great.

Is TMJ helped with having false teeth?
TMJ problems are life long problems that are managed not treated. In most cases a distinct clicking or popping sound is generated in the jaw joing under your ear.

In the late 70%26#039;s and early 80%26#039;s TMJ surgury was all the rage. However, in most cases symptoms never got better, or returned even worse years later. Some unfortunate people even were left permanently disfigured

Today the most common treatment is managment of the factor that are causing sever pain episodes:

Treatment includes

1. Hot %26amp; cold compresses

2..reduction in repetative jaw movement.

3. Braces or surgury

In some desperate cases they still follow through with braces and even jaw surgury to correct the bite. The hope being that if you bring the bite into harmony with the joint the joint will pop less. ( I don%26#039;t know what the success of this aproach is) However in my experience with a handfull of TMJ it has been minimal.

As far as your situation, you will not know if it will help until your dentures are made. I would be a bit concerned that your TMJ problem if any would be cause by your compensation for your lack of teeth when chewing. Also your expectation that dentures will cure your pain may be offset by a host of new problems associated with DENTURES. Such as looseness, the inability to bite hard, and a sense of fullness the dentures will put in your mouth.

If you do suffer from migraines associated with your temporalis muscle and not generated from the TMJ(Temporal Mandibular joint) technically you have muscle spasm from (parafunction) or altered chewing pattern and not true TMJ disfunction.

Hope it helps

good luck
Reply:My brother and I suffer from TMJ from time to time. He has it worse than I, however. I have never heard of getting false teeth helping. Sorry to say, but it%26#039;s a jaw problem not a tooth problem. I know it feels like a tooth ache sometimes. I do know that having dental work done aggravates TMJ because you have to sit with your mouth open for long periods of time.

You need to see a dentist and if he can%26#039;t help you, ask him to refer you on to a TMJ specialist. Unfortunately, there isn%26#039;t much they can really do for TMJ. They can do jaw surgery but that is very rare because it doesn%26#039;t help very much. Good luck.
Reply:TMJ problems and pain is usually caused by clenching. Your muscles go into a spasm and this can be very painful. YOu probably clench at night and not knowing it. Is your teeth sensitive? If they are you are clenching (the enamel will fall away and dentine become exposed)Getting false teeth in my opinion will not be very help full if you are a clench er. Ask your dentist for a bite plate. Its sure to do the trick.

False teeth or fix mine?

I had great teeth growing up, but after having four children my teeth are horrible! I went to the dentist and they want to do root canals and everything else on them! The cost is over $6000.00 to fix them! I am afraid they will just keep getting worse and I do not want to have to keep paying a big dental bill every time I turn around!

It is around $3,000.00 to get them all removed and false teeth put in! I am only 30 but I am so stuck on what to do! Please help!

False teeth or fix mine?
Invest in your own teeth. Yeah, it sounds cheaper on the bottom line to have them all pulled and replaced with dentures. I don%26#039;t think your total cost reflects the cost of the dentures, though. In most places, a set of dentures alone costs that much. Root canals and caps/crowns will let you preserve the teeth, where they belong. Dentures just sit in your mouth, and wearing them changes how and what you can eat. Think of it as an investment, if nothing else. Fix them and then do the maintenance. And consider, maintained natural teeth last a lifetime. Dentures have a life expectancy of around a decade. During that time they will need to be periodically realigned, and eventually replaced. They may break and need a repair. So dentures are not a one time expense either. And when they need replacing, you are looking at chucking out several thousand again to do it. You are young, so you can look forward to paying for several sets over your lifetime. I vote to fix and maintain what you have. Plastic is not a choice, it%26#039;s just a second best replacement.
Reply:fix yours, it will be worth it in the long run
Reply:I know how you feel, I had great teeth too growing up,and done the same thing that you are going through. I guess, do what you can with the money I%26#039;ve got. I have 4 false teeth on a metal plate. If you was like me, I would try to borrow the money. Having nice teeth, makes your whole outlook and make you feel good too.
Reply:This is a common problem for people who return to the dentist for the first time in years, get a complex treatment plan, hear the fee, and then panic.

You need a dentist that will prioritize treatment into manageable portions so you can spend the time and money. I%26#039;ll occasionally see people as young as you are with significant problems, but I can%26#039;t remember the last time I recommended dentures at your age.

Don%26#039;t think there is just one way to approach the problems you have. Find a dentist that will lay out treatment options you can understand, and work on a plan that will get you from point A to point B to point C. This stuff didn%26#039;t happen in a day and it won%26#039;t be fixed in a day either--but you should be able to figure out how to get it done eventually.

Steve Bornfeld, DDS
Reply:Actually, there are surprisingly many people your age who have dentures. If that is something you are seriously considering, there are a few things you should think about. One is that getting dentures is pretty costly, too. I%26#039;m not sure EXACTLY how much you will be charged, it varies from dentist to dentist. But it will probably be AT LEAST $100-$200 per denture (UPPER and LOWER).

This is also not a one time cost. Ideally, in a perfect world, it would be. But the fact is that things will happen, and you will need to get it repaired, etc. They%26#039;re easy to drop and step on and break. Or bite something too hard and they crack. Also, your mouth changes with time, and even if you don%26#039;t break it you will probably have to get it relined from time to time (adjusted to fit your mouth right again). These repairs and relines all cost a pretty penny as well.

If you have some teeth that are still good, you may consider getting a partial denture. There are temporary partial dentures that are made of all acrylic, sometimes with some clasps and the teeth you need. These are just that: TEMPORARY. Although people sometimes use them as long term solutions, they are not meant to be. There are also partial dentures made with metal frameworks. Those are made to last much longer. It%26#039;s still very important to take good care of the teeth you do have remaining, however.

Your very best option, I believe, is to get dental implants. However, these are VERY pricy, and I%26#039;m not sure of your situation, you would need to discuss it with your dentist.

I also recommend getting a second opinion from another dentist.
Reply:Spend the $6,000.00. Your natural teeth will be much better than the best dentures out there. That is not a lot of money to spend to preserve your teeth. Dentures will always be available down the road if the costs and care get to be too much.

Dentures are not a once and done thing. They take time to get used to, they take time to get to fit just right and since your mouth will be ever changing you will need to replace your dentures periodically. There are physical and emotional issues that you will have to deal with too.

If mine could have been restored for $6,000.00 they would not be parked in a cup overnight!
Reply:Why don%26#039;t you consult with several other dentists, ask them how either decision would affect your life. Ask second opinions like you are doing here. Also, look for alternatives to high costs, for example through Denture4Less.com if you decide to go that route. If you shop around, you could save 50% or more!

Will having 2 false teeth affect oral sex?

I guess this is going to receive a lot of crazy answers but it is a serious question. I had a false tooth fitted next to a kind of crown which was fitted into gums with a post. This has fallen out and I am told the only option is to have false tooth on plate fitted. Oral sex features highly in my sex life and I am worried recipient will know or that worse still tooth will fall out whilst sucking husbands love lolly (not sure how to put it without being too rude). We have met other friends on the swinging scene and I am concerned this going to curtail out fun. Heard of having teeth screwed in and wonder if anyone could give approx price for two teeth in UK. Of course I know this will vary from place to place. I do not mean offence by this question but am too embarrassed to voice these concerns to my dentist in person. If not too expensive may try implants. By the way teeth affected are those immediately adjacent to left of two middle top teeth

Will having 2 false teeth affect oral sex?
I%26#039;m sorry, I shouldn%26#039;t laugh...but you mentioned having teeth screwed in, and your wondering if you can have them %26quot;screwed%26quot; out. That%26#039;s funny. Let me try to be helpful here though. Sounds like you have had some bridgework. If it is good, no it shouldn%26#039;t fall out during oral sex. Impants are pricey! But well worth the investment! They last forever, and you could eventually spend even more replacing, repairing, resizing traditional false teeth. If you can afford it, just go and get the implants. My friend had her whole mouth done in Mexico for $1200. The cost of a trip to mexico, and only 2 teeth would be about half of what it costs to have the teeth done in the UK. I would research the Dentist first though, Mexican dentistry can be scary. But most now cater to Americans, and have use American techniques.
Reply:As long you have lips and a tongue, its ok.
Reply:You%26#039;re not supposed to use your teeth anyway...? Ouch!
Reply:You had me caring until I read about the swinging. Just go toothless...you%26#039;ll probably give it better.

Reply:no - I%26#039;ve only got 4 teeth and my partner doesn%26#039;t complain
Reply:Depends whether your male or female and whether your doing it to a male or female (if you see what I mean).
Reply:.....shouldn%26#039;t do, just lay back and enjoy as normal.
Reply:if its on a plate why not use dental fixative cream as well, to make sure you get a good grip on things
Reply:The Lucky partner you have will not know any difference. Could be more exciting. I would not complain.
Reply:Don%26#039;t use your teeth which are only for biting or chewing. If you need to bite during the sex acts do it very very gently. I suggest that you use your lips for sucking and tongue for licking during the action. Exercise your tongue so that it will be stiff during the %26quot;licking%26quot; process.

If you opt for the implants your dentist can always quote you the right price.

I do not have any problems with my upper and lower dentures no matter how intense the situations are.
Reply:don%26#039;t know about the oral sex part but if you decide on the screw in teeth option you must decide before the bone in your gum recedes. If there is insufficient bone to screw into you would have to have a grafting of bone normally taken from a larger bone in your body, usually your hip. I was too late and didn%26#039;t fancy the bone graft. I was quoted about £500 pounds for the service but that was several years back.

I will say that it has never affected my ability to orally service a woman but I guess that%26#039;s a little different.
